James V. Hart (* 1960 in Fort Worth , Texas ) is an American screenwriter and film producer.

Life

Hart started writing early. After studying at Southern Methodist University , a private college, he eventually decided to pursue a career as a screenwriter. Two of his scripts received the Saturn Award for Best Screenplay : Bram Stoker's Dracula (1993) and Contact (1998). In 2006 his first novel was published in Germany under the title Die wilden Abenteuer des Young Capt'n Hook .

In 2007 it became known that he had adapted the cult novel The Sirens of Titan by Kurt Vonnegut while the author was still alive for the film. A realization of the project is still pending.

James V. Hart lives in New York with his wife . His two sons are also writers.
