Friedrich Neblung (born June 27, 1860 in Bendeleben ; † February 27, 1929 in Velbert ) was a German designer of the first automatic machines for the production of technical springs in Germany.

Life

Friedrich Neblung was born in Bendeleben in what was then the Principality of Schwarzburg-Sondershausen . After wandering as a craftsman, he settled permanently in Velbert , Rhineland, from January 1, 1886 , and founded a metal goods company there on April 4, 1908, when it was entered in the commercial register.

Act

Up until the end of the 19th century, the manufacture of lock springs was time-consuming and imprecise with so-called "spring witches". "Feather witches" were bending devices attached to a sled that had to be operated by hand levers in order to give the raw material the required shape. In 1889, he succeeded for the first time in producing form- fitting Franze feathers on a machine initially made of wood. On July 16, 1898, he registered his invention for the Imperial Patent, which was granted on May 3, 1900. On April 13, 1901, he was able to carry out the first order for the production of Franze springs for 2.5-inch locks. In addition to the Franze spring machines, Neblung developed numerous other machines and a. for the production of constant-force springs for door and so-called "pinch springs" for padlocks and furniture locks.
