Friedrich Ortlieb
Friedrich Ortlieb (born November 25, 1839 in Stuttgart , † October 14, 1909 in Munich ) was a German portrait and genre painter .
Friedrich Ortlieb received his artistic training first from 1853 in Ludwig Weisser's lithographic institute, after four years of apprenticeship he attended the Stuttgart art school , where he made friends with Anton Braith and Christian Mali . In 1965 he continued his studies with Carl Steffeck in Berlin . Ortlieb returned to Stuttgart in 1866, moved to Munich in 1868 and was popular there with his figure and genre pictures. In Munich he belonged to the circle of friends of former Stuttgart residents around Braith, Mali, Albert Kappis and Ernst Otto Reiniger . His pictures also appeared in the journal Die Gartenlaube .
