Friedrich Plaschke , also Bedřich Plaške (born January 7, 1875 in Jaroměř ; † February 4, 1952 in Prague ) was a German-Czech opera singer ( bass baritone ).

Life

The son of a merchant made his debut in 1900 at the Dresden Court Opera as herald in Lohengrin . He remained a member of the ensemble until 1937. From January to April 1923, Plaschke and his wife were part of the 200-person Wagner Opera Festival Company , which performed at several venues in the USA under the direction of Leo Blech and Georg Hartmann .

His roles included Pöschel in Feuersnot , the First Nazarenes in Salome , Arcesius in d'Albert's Die toten Augen , Altair in Die ägyptische Helena , Graf Waldner ( Arabella ) and Morosus ( The silent woman ). He was the first actor in Barak ( The Woman Without a Shadow ), Gérard ( Andrea Chénier ), Boris Godunow and Amfortas ( Parsifal ) in Dresden.

He has also been a guest in the United States , at the Bayreuth Festival and at the Royal Opera House in London .

Plaschke was married to the singer Eva von der Osten (1881-1936).
