Georg Hartmann

Georg Hartmann (* thirtieth March 1862 in Hannover , † 4. April 1936 in Dresden ) was a German opera singer (basso buffo) - director and artistic director.

Live and act

Hartmann was trained as a singer and actor at the Dresden Conservatory . He then worked as a singer in Cologne and Amsterdam , then as a senior director in Königsberg . In 1909 he became theater director in Essen . From 1912 to 1923 he was director of the German Opera House in Charlottenburg ( Berlin ), and from 1924 to 1932 general director of the Stadttheater Kiel . Then he worked again in Berlin.

Hartmann developed new versions of numerous foreign or older operas for use on the stage, which he published at Ahn & Simrock .

His son was the director of the same name and later Munich State Director Georg Hartmann (1891–1972).
