Eva Helga Bertha von der Osten , married Eva Plaschke-von der Osten (born August 19, 1881 on Helgoland , † May 5, 1936 in Kurort Hartha ) was a German opera singer (soprano) and director.

Life

She was the daughter of the actors Emil von der Osten (1847–1905) and Rosa von der Osten-Hildebrandt (1850–1911).

Eva von der Osten made her debut at the Dresden Court Opera in 1902 and worked there until the end of her career in 1933. She was also active as a director, for example at the world premiere of Arabella by Richard Strauss . She was the crowd favorite in Dresden and sang all the important roles in her field. Guest performances have taken her to leading European houses. From 1923 to 1924 she performed with great success, especially in Wagner roles, as a member of the traveling German Opera Company in North America led by the famous conductor Leo Blech , including as Isolde in Tristan and Isolde .

Eva von der Osten was married to the baritone Friedrich Plaschke (1875–1952) and carried the name Eva Plaschke-von der Osten from the time they got married. When she resigned in 1927, she made over 2500 appearances in her 25-year career. She died in 1936 on her country estate in Kurort Hartha (today: Talmühlenstrasse 49). She found her final resting place at the Johannisfriedhof in Dresden- Tolkewitz next to her mother and sister, the singer Vali von der Osten .
