Friedrich Pruss (Pruss) von Zglinicki , also Friedrich v. Zglinicki (born April 11, 1895 in Berlin , † March 28, 1986 in West Berlin ) was a German artist , writer , illustrator and cartoonist .

origin

His parents were Lieutenant General William Georg Ernst Pruss von Zglinicki (* June 8, 1864 - July 6, 1922) and his wife Else Atzpodien (* October 13, 1868).

Life

Coming from the old Prussian nobility with Polish roots, Zglinicki initially pursued a military career in accordance with family tradition. At the age of eleven he began training as a cadet. Zglinicki became a page at the court of Kaiser Wilhelm II in 1913 and served as Hindenburg's personal adjutant during the First World War . In the early 1920s he studied at the art school in Berlin-Charlottenburg . Then Zglinicki took up the job of a press draftsman and was best known for books for children and young people that he wrote and / or illustrated himself. He published temporarily under the pseudonyms Friedrich Pruss or -nicki . Zglinicki used the latter signet especially in the large number of comics that he produced for magazines and journals. Zglinicki also worked as a draftsman for mosaics and also made a name for himself as a creator of animal images.
