Friedrich Schaub (historian)

Friedrich Schaub (born October 18, 1887 in Freiburg im Breisgau ; † August 3, 1957 there ) was a German historian, teacher and archivist at the University of Freiburg .

Life

Friedrich Schaub studied history, geography, Latin and German at the University of Freiburg and received his doctorate there in 1912 under Heinrich Finke . He took part in the First World War, in which he was seriously wounded. From May 1923 he was a teacher at the Rotteck-Gymnasium in Freiburg. He also worked as a university archivist at the University of Freiburg, partially exempt from teaching , and published on its history.

In May 1957 he received the Federal Cross of Merit .
