Friedrich Schneider (painter)
Friedrich August Schneider (born April 22, 1799 in Freiberg , † July 2, 1855 in Berthelsdorf ) was a German artillery officer and battle painter .
life and work
Little is known to art historical research about the education and life of Friedrich Schneider . He must have started painting quite early , before he also decided on a military career. He took part in the Napoleonic Wars . The paintings The Battle of Dresden and the Battle of Kulm , in which he participated as a fourteen-year-old soldier, date from this period .
