Friedrich Springorum (art historian)

Friedrich Springorum (born January 1, 1902 in Essen , † March 4, 1971 in Munich ) was a German art historian , photo journalist and author.

Life

Friedrich Springorum studied literature and art history in Heidelberg and Munich and completed his studies with a doctorate in philosophy. He lived in Munich from the 1920s.

During the Second World War he was a photo reporter for the Propaganda Replacement Department (Potsdam) and the Propaganda Company 695 with deployments in the Netherlands and France, most recently with the rank of "Special Leader". In 1944 he served in Flak Replacement Department 2. He was married to Klara von Ow.
