Friedrich Töpper
Friedrich Töpper (born December 2, 1891 in Karlsruhe , † June 29, 1953 there ) was a German politician ( SPD ).
Töpper had been self-employed as a businessman since 1919 and was a member of the citizens' committee for the SPD from 1919 to 1922. From 1922 to 1933 he was a member of the city council of Karlsruhe, after which he was taken into “ protective custody ” by the National Socialists . In 1944 he was sent to prison. After the end of the Second World War he was a city councilor and chairman of the SPD parliamentary group from 1945 to 1947, and he was also president of the Karlsruhe Chamber of Commerce and Industry . From 1946 to 1950 he was a member of the state parliament of Württemberg-Baden , in which he was second vice-president, and was also Lord Mayor of Karlsruhe from January 20, 1947 to May 31, 1952 .
