Friedrich VI. (Zollern)

Friedrich VI. von Zollern († May 4, 1298 ), called "the knight" or "the elder" , was a count of Zollern .

Friedrich was the son of Count Friedrich V von Zollern from his marriage to Udilhild von Dillingen .

He followed his father around 1288 as Count of Zollern. In the year of his successor he shared the property with his younger brother Friedrich I the younger . Thus, at the end of the 13th century, the Schalksburg line founded by this separated from the main line . Friedrich VI. received the ancestral lands with the Hohenzollern Castle and the surrounding areas, while the lordships of Schalksburg and Mühlheim fell to brother Friedrich I. The younger brother's line died out in 1408. In the 14th century, Frederick's land was then ruled by the Strasbourg line and the family line of the Black Counts. The Schwarzgräfliche line died out in 1412.

In 1296 Friedrich sold some goods to the Bebenhausen monastery .

Marriage and offspring

In 1281 Friedrich married Kunigunde (1265–1310), daughter of Margrave Rudolf I of Baden , with whom he had the following children:
