Friedrich Wilhelm Bracht (born May 29, 1932 ; † September 5, 2010 in Bremen ) was a German banker and director of Bremer Bank .

biography

Bracht started working for Dresdner Bank in 1952 and initially worked for this bank in Hamburg . In 1969 he was appointed director of Bremer Bank by Dresdner Bank. He held this position until 1995.

Bracht joined the Bremen club in 1971 . As the successor to Carl Otto Merkel, he was chairman of the Bremen Club from 1980 to 2002. Klaus Berthold succeeded him in this office. On the initiative of Bracht, a junior group of the until then all-male club was founded with a membership of now 120 young women and men. In 2000 the admission of women was enforced.

Bracht has been chairman of the German Maritime Museum Association since 1996 and from 1996 to 2009 deputy chairman of the board of trustees of the association as well as a member of the board of directors of the German Maritime Museum Foundation (DSM) in Bremerhaven. The Association's magazine was edited by him. His fundraising campaigns for the restoration of the museum ship and largest surviving wooden cargo sailor in the world, Seute Deern, were successful .

Furthermore, since 1992 he has been a member of the board of trustees of the Wilhelm-Kaisen- Bürgerhilfe , board member of the Otto Modersohn Foundation , board member of the Nicolaus Heinrich Schilling Foundation for the promotion of Bremen's cultural assets , long-time board member of the German-Japanese Society in Bremen and member of the Association of Friends of the Focke Museum and the Focke Museum Foundation . Through his cooperation with the German Society for Rescue of Shipwrecked People (DGzRS), a permanent exhibition on rescue from distress at sea was set up.
