Friedrich Wilhelm I (Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Beck)

Friedrich Wilhelm I of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Beck (* May 2, 1682 ; † June 26, 1719 at Francavilla di Sicilia ) was the third duke from the Oldenburg branch of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Beck since 1689 .

Life

His parents were August (1652–1689) and Hedwig Luise, Countess zur Lippe-Alverdissen (1650–1731).

He was initially in the Prussian service where he rose to lieutenant colonel. In 1702 he got a company with Margrave Albrecht and entered imperial service. In June 1706 he was appointed colonel there.

He changed faith in 1706 and became a field marshal of the imperial army. He also sold the Beck parent company to Friedrich Wilhelm , the son of his uncle Friedrich Ludwig .

He fell in 1719 in the Battle of Francavilla in Sicily.

family

On February 8, 1708, he married Marie Antonie Josefa Isnardi di Castello di Sanfre (* December 8, 1682; February 18, 1762), a daughter of the Bavarian general and Count Anton Emanuel Isnardi di Castello di Sanfre . The couple had several children, but only two daughters grew up.

  • Maria Anna Leopoldine (born August 2, 1717, † February 7, 1789) married Manuel de Sousa e Calharis (1705–1759), royal Portuguese captain of the Guard , in 1735 and founded the de Sousa Holstein family ;
  • Johanna Amalie (born December 3, 1719 - † October 30, 1774) married the court building director Emanuel Silva-Tarouca in 1740 .
