Friedrich Wilhelm Thie (* 1803 in Rathenow ; † 1869 ) was a harmonica manufacturer in Vienna .

Life

In 1824 Wilhelm Thie bought a “mouth harp” in Vienna and built it. In 1834 he founded the world's first Wilhelm Thie harmonica factory . In 1841 Wilhelm Thie discovered the principle of the tremolo harmonica . In Vienna in 1922 Wilhelm Thie's grandchildren sold to a company in Graslitz (Bohemian Vogtland).
