Friedrich Wilhelm von Clausewitz
Friedrich Wilhelm von Clausewitz (born September 6, 1809 in Graudenz , † January 10, 1881 in Berlin ) was a German police chief.
Life
He was a son of the Prussian general Wilhelm Benedikt von Clausewitz and received military training.
From August 19, 1840, he was President of the Danzig Police Department. He reorganized the police, the port police and built new police stations in the city. In 1859, after a series of major fires in Danzig, he founded a subordinate professional fire brigade on the former town courtyard, on today's Ogarna Street. Through the construction police, he supervised all construction work for the renovation, renovations and new buildings in the city. He checked the population registers and border traffic. All municipal investment projects had to be approved.
Clausewitz was made an honorary citizen of the city of Danzig on December 16, 1856, on the 25th anniversary of his activity. He retired on October 1, 1875.
