Friedrich Wilke (entrepreneur)
Friedrich Wilke (born July 13, 1829 in Guben ; † October 21, 1908 there ) was a German entrepreneur .
Life
His father Carl Gottlob Wilke had become a successful entrepreneur through the development of the wool felt hat, which was made insensitive to moisture (and therefore weatherproof) by decating . In 1859, Friedrich Wilke took over his father's business of the Guben hat factory CG Wilke .
In 1887 he donated the Naëmi-Wilke-Stift children's hospital in Guben in memory of his daughter who died of typhus at the age of 13 . When his youngest son, Karl Emil Friedrich Wilke, died in an accident in 1901, he donated the new building for the Church of the Good Shepherd . Friedrich-Wilke-Platz in Guben was named after him.
