Friedrich von Meyendorff

Friedrich Gottlieb Alexander Kasimir Freiherr von Meyendorff (born August 3, 1839 on Ramkau estate ( Rankas muiža , Wenden district , Livonia governorate , today: Ranka village, Gulbene municipality ); † April 22, 1911 in Alt-Bewershof ( Vecbebru muiža , Riga district , today: Vecbebri, Koknese community )) was a German-Baltic landowner and politician.

Life

After attending grammar school in Birkenruh near Wenden in Livonia, Friedrich von Meydendorff studied law at the University of Dorpat from the winter semester of 1858 to the summer semester of 1861 . At the beginning of his studies he became a member of Livonia Dorpat . In the winter semester of 1861 he moved to the University of Zurich . Here he was one of the founders of the Baltica Zurich in the summer semester of 1862 . In the winter semester of 1862 he completed his studies in Zurich with a doctorate to become a Dr. iur. from.

After returning to his homeland in Livonia, von Meyendorff owned the Alt-Bewershof estate (near Koknese ). From 1864 to 1867 he was secretary of the Livonian peasant pension bank in Riga, from 1867 to 1868 secretary of the Riga-Wolmarschen parish council, from 1868 to 1870 deputy Livonian knighthood secretary, from 1870 to 1871 secretary of the commission in peasant matters, from 1872 to 1875 assessor of the Livonian consistory and from 1875 to 1884 Livonian Knighthood Secretary. From 1884 to 1908 he held the office of Livonian land marshal . From 1908 to 1911 he was the Livonian district administrator and from 1909 to 1911 at the same time President of the German Association in Livonia.
