history

2000 years ago, the Romans already had a bathing establishment at this point, which they called Aquae (later Aquae Aureliae). This name then passed from Badin to today's Baden-Baden . The Grand Ducal Senior Building Councilor Robert Gerwig had the Friedrichstollen built in the years 1868–1871. He is with 182- 185  m above sea level. NN about 30 meters above the Oostal .

The artesian water outlet is directed to the medicinal baths and drinking cures via an open collecting channel with a discharge of 4.156 l / s (800,000 liters / day) . Here drinking options exist in the Caracalla Spa , the heron fountain in the Sofienstraße or at the pump room next to the Kurhaus .

The thermal water emerging from crevices in the arcs and conglomerates of the Oberkarbon is a sodium chloride thermal bath.
