Residential complex Friesenplatz 1–2

Number 1-2

The urban residential complex was built in 1925 by the Vienna City Building Office under the architects Erwin Böck, Max Theuer and Friedrich Zotter. Originally it consisted of 189 apartments, today it consists of 181 apartments. The facades extend to Angeligasse, Friesenplatz and Hardtmuthgasse, while a free-standing residential tower is housed in the courtyard. The five- to six-storey complex with its nine staircases is richly structured in a romantic, expressive sense and has pointed bay windows, risalits, gable endings and blocks of different heights. On Friesenplatz, the facade is set back from the building line in favor of a small strip of green in which there are also trees. An inn, a kindergarten and workshops are located on the ground floor.
