Frinton-on-Sea is a small English coastal town with about 5500 inhabitants in the county of Essex in the District Tendring .

history

Until the late Victorian period , the village consisted of only a church, a few farms and a few houses. The entire site was later bought by a developer to create an exclusive coastal town for the wealthy.

Attacked by the German Air Force in 1944, Frinton is believed to be the last city in England to be bombed by the Air Force.

The radio ship Mi Amigo anchored off Frinton-on-Sea in 1964 and one of the first private radio broadcasters in Great Britain began its program from here under the name Radio Atlanta .

traffic

Frinton owns a former double-track station, which is now only used on one track in two directions by the National Express East Anglia railway company .

Others

The Triangle Shopping Center is located in Frinton , and this is also where the Council Office is located . There is also a fire station and an ambulance, but no hospital.

Trivia

Frinton has become known to a large audience primarily through the Sketch Dinner for One , which is broadcast every year on New Year's Eve in the German third television programs , where he plays the role of the butler James .
