Fritz Brühlmann (born July 26, 1936 ) is a Swiss two-wheel mechanic . Since 1972 he has been the first full-time mechanic for the Swiss national cycling teams.

Fritz Brühlmann grew up on a farm and learned to be a cabinet maker . At the age of 17 he began to practice competitive cycling as an amateur. He preferred to drive track races - sprints , points races , team pursuits and two-man team races - on the Zurich-Oerlikon open race track and in the Zurich Hallenstadion .

After his active cycling days, Brühlmann initially worked in the profession he had learned. In 1967 the then Swiss national coach Oscar Plattner asked him to look after the Swiss national team on the Guatemala Tour . At first he worked part-time for the Swiss Cycling Federation , from 1972 he became its first full-time mechanic for the national teams in the various disciplines. Since then, athletes he has supervised have won over 150 medals at the Olympic Games , World and European Championships (as of early 2015), and he himself has been on site at over 100 international competitions as a national mechanic. He also tinkered with innovations on racing bikes himself and has his own workshop in which he builds bikes.

The “Nati-Mech” Fritz Brühlmann is considered a “legend” in Swiss cycling.
