Fritz Dahlem

Fritz Dahlem (born June 21, 1921 in Bad Dürkheim ; † February 9, 2013 in Mainz ) was a German politician ( FDP ).

Life and work

After studying law at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and the Ruprecht Karls University in Heidelberg , Fritz Dahlem settled as a lawyer in Mainz in 1951. As early as the next year, he moved into the city administration for the first time as a volunteer alderman, at that time still at the Powder Tower .

In 1961 he moved full-time to the city administration as administrative director. In the mayoral elections in 1965, the long-time administrative director was elected full-time councilor as a member of the city council under Lord Mayor Jockel Fuchs . He was assigned the function of property manager. This office was instrumental in the settlement of major companies such as IBM for Mainz and the move of the ZDF to the Lerchenberg. Significant urban development projects were the redevelopment of the fire area and the construction of the Mainz town hall . Dahlem held the full-time position of mayor until 1977, after which he was an honorary councilor until 1979 and resumed his work as a lawyer.

Dahlem was married and had two daughters. He lived in Mainz-Oberstadt .
