Fritz Delius (born September 28, 1890 in Berlin , † September 20, 1966 in Basel ; born Friedrich Wilhelm Diamant ) was a German actor .

Life

He made his debut in 1909 at the Meiningen Court Theater and later appeared frequently at the Reinhardt Theaters in Berlin and Vienna. He started silent films during the First World War and was a leading actor on several occasions at Henny Porten's side . Also Fern Andra one of his partners. He was also responsible twice as a screenwriter.

In 1920, he played Ludwig XIV in the historical film Am Liebeshof des Sonnenkönig . In the 1920s, Delius turned more to the theater and then belonged to the theater ensemble in the Josefstadt in Vienna for many years . After the annexation of Austria , Delius emigrated to Switzerland because of his Jewish origins. There he later received an engagement at the Comedy in Basel.
