Fritz Deubner - around 1933

Fritz Deubner (born January 2, 1873 in Einsiedel ; † December 9, 1960 in Annaberg-Buchholz ) was a German educator and writer as well as a local researcher in the western Ore Mountains .

Deubner worked at the school in Wiesenbad from 1893 to 1896, followed by a longer stay in West Thuringia, where he worked as the principal of the school in Brotterode and appeared with great success as an author of short stories, poems and historical topics. He later moved to Annaberg. Here he made a lasting name for himself above all as an Adam Ries researcher alongside his professional colleague Willy Roch .

Works

Deubner published around 100 educational articles and 1,500 works of fiction, mostly for daily newspapers and magazines.

Honors

On the occasion of his 60th birthday in 1933, honors appeared in numerous German literary journals. In the Thuringian city of Rastenberg , a memorial tree - the Deubner oak - was planted as thanks for his work The Rastenberg Nightingale . In the same sense, a Deubner beech was planted for him in Lengenfeld under the stone opposite Schloss Bischofstein , it is reminiscent of his historical drama The Vogt von Stein . A square in Annaberg-Buchholz was named after him.
