Fritz Helmedag

Fritz Helmedag (born November 8, 1953 in Tübingen ) is a retired German professor of economics and held the chair for microeconomics at the TU Chemnitz .

After studying economics in Tübingen and Stuttgart-Hohenheim, Helmedag did his doctorate in Aachen . Also in Aachen, he completed his habilitation in 1992 on the subject of goods production by means of work - on the rehabilitation of the law of value , before he represented the field of economics, in particular finance.

In 1993 Helmedag took over the chair of microeconomics in Chemnitz . His main research interests include a. the theory of values ​​and employment as well as the history of economic doctrines. In the meantime he has made a name for himself especially in the field of labor value calculation. Helmedag is the doctoral supervisor of Sahra Wagenknecht . He has been an elected member of the learned society Leibniz Society of Sciences in Berlin since 2005 . On the occasion of his 65th birthday in 2018, Helmedag was honored with the commemorative publication “ Laws of Movement in Capitalism”.
