Fritz Köster (born before 1930; died after 1945) was a German politician ( NSDAP ) and in 1933 first mayor of Dorsten , then an alderman of his successor Josef Gronover .

politics

In 1930, the learned took carpenter Fritz Köster the line of Dorstener local Nazi group , trying in this function, the aspiring party in Dorsten, traditionally a stronghold of the Catholic Center to visualize. In the city council election on March 12, 1933, the center remained the strongest force in Dorsten, but the result was enough for the local NSDAP, which moved into the committee with six councilors, for the appointment of Koster as a paid councilor.

In the course of the " seizure of power ", the Dorsten National Socialists also used the good starting point for their project of social conformity . In his new role, Köster took steps to push the incumbent mayor Franz Lürken out of office. He threatened the few remaining dissenters in the city council who were unwilling to share the charge of misappropriating public funds to Lürken with the concentration camp . Thus, after Lürken's application for retirement, Köster was able to temporarily take over the office of Dorsten Mayor for the NSDAP on June 13, 1933. In August of the same year, his party comrade Josef Gronover was appointed mayor, to whom Köster again served as an alderman. He held this office until 1945.
