Adrian Metcalfe
Adrian Metcalfe ( Adrian Peter Metcalfe ; born March 2, 1942 in Bradford ) is a former British sprinter who specialized in the 400-meter run .
In 1961, on September 2nd in Dortmund , he set a world best time of 45.7 seconds. The following year he was fourth at the European Athletics Championships in Belgrade in 1962 and won bronze with the British team in the 4 x 400 meter relay . There was also silver for him in the same year with the English team in the 4 x 440 yard relay of the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Perth .
At the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1964, he reached the quarter-finals over 400 meters. In the 4 x 400 meter relay, the British quartet with Tim Graham , Metcalfe, John Cooper and Robbie Brightwell won silver in 3: 01.6 minutes behind the US relay, which finished in 3: 00.7 minutes set a world record.
In 1961 and 1963 he was English champion over 440 yards .
