Fritz Piaskowski

Fritz Piaskowski (born March 24, 1906 in Aumund ; † March 11, 1985 in Bremen ) was a German politician ( SPD ) and sports official.

biography

education and profession

Piaskowski trained as a locksmith at the Bremer Vulkan shipyard . He was employed at Vulkan for 37 years as a locksmith and foreman.

Sports official

In 1919 he became a member of the Workers' Gymnastics and Sports Association (ATSB), which was banned by the National Socialists in 1933. He was the technical director of the ATSB. After the Second World War he was involved in the re-establishment of a general sports organization, which should now include all sections of the population. In 1946 he re-founded the Aumund-Vegesack sports club after the American occupation forces checked the boards for political reliability when the clubs were re-admitted . In 1947 he was on the board of the State Sports Association of Bremen (LSB) as the umbrella organization of the Bremen and Bremerhaven sports clubs and associations. From 1966 he became chairman of the LSB as the successor to the LSB founding chairman Oskar Drees .

Politician

After completing his apprenticeship, he became a member of the union in the 1920s. In 1927 he joined the SPD. As an active social democrat, he was politically persecuted during the Nazi era and temporarily imprisoned in 1933. From 1946 to 1966 he was a member of the Bremen citizenship and was represented there in several deputations , including for sport.

From 1964 to 1974 he was head of the Vegesack local office and therefore responsible for the administrative tasks of the Vegesack Advisory Board .
