Fritz Podehl

Fritz Podehl (born September 9, 1892 in Berlin ; † March 1, 1960 in Munich ) was a German critic , production manager , producer and dramaturge for film.

Life

Podehl had attended the seminar for city school teachers in his hometown of Berlin before he switched to the newspaper as an editor. From 1919 to 1922 he wrote numerous film reviews for the publication Der Film . Between 1922 and 1928 he worked as chief dramaturge and production manager at Gloria-Film Berlin, and from 1929 to 1940 he served as chief dramaturge and production deputy at UFA . From 1941 until the end of the war in 1945, he took over the production of films for Wien-Film with his own production group .

After the end of the war, Fritz Podehl ended his active production activities in the film industry and after a brief interlude - from 1947 to 1949 he was artistic director of the Bloch Erben publishing house - he switched to the film industry. From 1949 to 1954 Podehl was head of the voluntary self-regulation of the film industry . In 1954 he took over the supervision at Schorcht Filmverleih in Munich. Three years earlier he was also on the jury of the first Berlinale .

His son was the actor and director Peter Podehl .
