Fritz Rummel

Fritz Rummel (born June 21, 1936 in Waldsassen ; † May 2, 2019 in Bayreuth ) was a German geophysicist . He received his doctorate in geophysics at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich in 1967 , was a Research Associate at the University of Minnesota from 1968 to 1970, and from 1970 he set up the rock physics group at the Ruhr University Bochum , where he received his habilitation in 1975 and from 1976 until 2001 was a university professor for geophysics. His focus was on rock physics , fracture mechanics, hydrofrac stress measurements and deep geothermal energy . He last lived in Bayreuth, where he died on May 2, 2019.

His company MeSy Geo Meßsysteme, founded in 1984, expired in 2010.
