Fritz Scherer (football official)

Fritz Scherer (* 16th February 1940 in Augsburg ) is a German football official, economist and emeritus professor of business administration at the University of Applied Sciences Augsburg . He gained fame as the long-standing President (1985 to 1994) and Vice President (1994 to 2012) of FC Bayern Munich .

Life

Fritz Scherer was born as the third child of business people Fritz and Walburga Scherer, née. Hammerl, born in Augsburg.

In his youth, Scherer played in the football club BC Augsburg . He held a position as managing director in the meat products company Rudolf Houdeks . From 1979 to 1985 Scherer was treasurer at FC Bayern Munich. In the following years he was the successor of Willi O. Hoffmann President of the association; During his tenure, FC Bayern rose to become record champions in 1987. In 1994 he was replaced by Franz Beckenbauer , and since then he has held the office of Vice President until 2012. Scherer was also a professor at the Augsburg University of Applied Sciences until 2003 .

At the annual general meeting of FC Bayern Munich 2012, Scherer no longer stood for election as Vice President, his successor was Karl Hopfner . Scherer was named Honorary Vice President. In addition to the office of Vice President of FC Bayern Munich, Scherer was also a member of the club's supervisory board and the tax and economic committee of the DFB .
