Friedrich Stoy

Paul Friedrich "Fritz" Stoy (born September 15, 1887 in Colochau ; † October 17, 1978 ibid) was a German homeland researcher and teacher.

Life

Friedrich Stoy grew up as the son of a Hüfner with four brothers and a sister. The village life and customs shaped him. After finishing school, Stoy learned the teaching profession in the Elsterwerda teacher training college until 1907 . He found his first job as a primary school teacher in Lönnewitz near Falkenberg / Elster . He took part in the First World War as a soldier . From 1919 to 1953 Stoy worked as a teacher in Schmerkendorf near Falkenberg / Elster. His early interest in local history brought Stoy together with Karl Pallas , who himself worked on research into regional history. After his retirement, Stoy lived with his family again in Kolochau.

Friedrich Stoy was an organist and directed a church choir. He also painted and wrote.

Honors

  • In 1996 a grammar school in Falkenberg / Elster was named after Friedrich Stoy .
  • A memorial stone was erected in his honor in the forest near Schmerkendorf.
