Fritz Wiesmann

Fritz Wiesmann (born December 14, 1907 ; † 1994 ) was a Swiss pharmacist and orchestra leader .

Wiesmann attended primary school in Feuerthalen . He received his doctorate in 1935 at the Technical Federal Institute of Zurich to Dr. sc. nat. with studies on the drying of the deadly nightshade and the common thorn apple . He then worked as a pharmacist and was, among other things, a specialist group delegate of the Swiss Natural Research Society .

In 1934, Wiesmann founded the Schaffhausen Chamber Orchestra , "after having repeatedly brought together colleagues and fellow students to make music as a cantonal schoolboy and student," which over the decades became one of the "most traditional cultural institutions in the Schaffhausen region". Among other things, he composed two sonatas for violin and piano .

Fritz Wiesmann was the father of the songwriter Dieter Wiesmann .
