Dieter Wiesmann (born May 5, 1939 in Schaffhausen ; † September 23, 2015 ) was a Swiss songwriter .

Life

Dieter Wiesmann was born as the son of the pharmacist and orchestra conductor Fritz Wiesmann . He was active as a boy scout , graduated from high school and then became a pharmacist. During his studies he worked as a presenter and editor for Swiss television . Among other things, he dubbed and edited stories for children's television programs. He also worked for the radio. In 1983 he co-founded the local radio station Radio Munot in Schaffhausen .

Between 1974 and 1999 Dieter Wiesmann gave over 2000 concerts and released eleven albums. In 1980 he made a tour of the world's first rolling railway theater. In 1989 he was awarded a gold record for the children's song album Matthias . It was produced by Reinhard Mey .

In principle, Wiesmann ended his career as a chansonnier in 1999. However, he gave his last two concerts on the occasion of his 65th birthday on May 5th and 12th, 2004 in the Stadttheater Schaffhausen .

His main job was the co-owner of the central pharmacy in Neuhausen am Rheinfall . Together with his business partner Patrick Gschwend he employed 15 people. Dieter Wiesmann lived in Zurich and was entitled to live in Neunforn .

plant

Wiesmann wrote well over a hundred songs, almost all of them in the Schaffhausen dialect. Examples of songs in the standard language are the love story between the violin and the flute and the cave opus (always only grass) .

Wiesmann distinguished himself as an exact observer in his work. He tried to describe his surroundings in an amusing and sometimes useless way. For example, when the Schaffhausen tram was stopped, he reported, like an art expert, that the heating cover had the same (old-fashioned) pattern as part of the entrance stairs and that for that reason alone we had to regret the closure.

His songs, clearly influenced by Reinhard Mey , revolve around the individually felt and formulated discomfort in society (normal) .

love songs

Many of Wiesmann's songs are about love. It describes the aging of love ( hours become years , more than 20 years - hopefully another 20 years ) love for sale (a love of desperation) , summer love or being lonely (sometimes she caresses herself) .

Most important songs

His song Blos e chlini Stadt became the anthem of his hometown Schaffhausen. The song was written for a cabaret in the late 1960s. It is always played on Radio Munot at the end of the day shortly before midnight . Also very well known - at least in Eastern Switzerland - is the song Tuusigfüessler Balthasar , which appeared on Wiesmann's only children's record Matthias .
