Radio Munot is a private radio station in Switzerland based in Schaffhausen and was founded in 1983. It is named after the landmark of Schaffhausen, the Munot fortress . The transmission area includes the entire canton of Schaffhausen and parts of the cantons of Zurich, Thurgau and Aargau. Radio Munot can also be received in the German border area.

program

Radio Munot produces a full program for the Schaffhausen region that is committed to the idea of public service. Regional news is broadcast every half hour. The national and international news on the hour has been taken over by Radio Freiburg since 2010. Radio Munot is financed through advertising and receives around 250,000 francs per year (2005) from broadcasting fees as compensation for the public service as part of fee splitting .

The main transmission frequency is VHF 91.5 MHz from the transmitter Cholfirst ( 47 ° 40 '51 "  N , 8 ° 38' 48.34"  O ). Converters are operated in Stein am Rhein / Untersee on 105.9 MHz and in Klettgau on 107.5 MHz. Radio Munot can be heard on Sasag's cable network on 101.85 MHz. Since mid-October 2008, a converter has also been operated in Schleitheim with the frequency of 100.2 MHz. Radio Munot has also been available via DAB + since 2017 . Radio Munot has been on SwissMediaCast channel 9B (Eastern Switzerland) since December 4, 2019 and can now be received without interference in the whole of Eastern Switzerland via DAB +.

Ownership

Radio Munot is operated by Meier + Cie AG . Schaffhauser Verlag owns 100 percent of Radio Munot Werbe AG and 48.4 percent of Radio Munot Betriebs AG. The printing company Karl Augustin AG (10.7%), Ritter Immobilien-Treuhand AG (10.7%) and Südkurier GmbH (6.2%) also own shares in the operating company . The remaining shares are distributed among around 40 people, all of whom have a share of less than 5 percent.

  • Some of today's well-known media personalities began their media careers at Radio Munot.
  • The station broadcasts Schaffhausen's secret hymn “ Blos e chlini Stadt ” by Dieter Wiesmann , who was co-founder of Radio Munot in 1983, shortly before midnight, immediately before the date change .
  • In 2005 the daily reach was over 60,000 listeners. In 2019 there were just under 26,000 listeners.
