Fronhof (desert)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Fronhof (also Fronloch ) is a deserted area in the Dettelbach district of Euerfeld in the Lower Franconian district of Kitzingen . The place was abandoned between the 13th and 14th centuries. The reasons for this are unclear.

Geographical location

The localization of the place is proving difficult today. In particular, the land consolidation of the 1960s permanently destroyed the originally grown land around Euerfeld. Since the documents temporarily locate the farm in the district of Rottendorf , it can be assumed that it was located southwest of Euerfeld. One parcel still bears the name Fronhof today.

history

The Fronhof was first mentioned in 1275. At that time, the possessions of the Würzburg collegiate monastery Haug were listed. These included several fields "apud curia que dicitur Fronehof" (Latin for the curia , which is called Fronhof). At times the Fronhof was part of the district of Rottendorf, so the "Fronhove" was mentioned in a dispute between the chaplain Nikolaus and the Rottendorfer mayor Berthold.

The farm was named again in 1290. However, the settlement slowly fell into desolation in the following decades. In 1318 the Hauger monastery was still wealthy here and had its tithe "in Fronloch". However, the place now only consisted of a single homestead . Between the 13th and 14th centuries the farm was also given up and the fields were incorporated into the district of Euerfeld.
