The Froude Range is a mountain range in the Canterbury region of the South Island of New Zealand .
geography
The Froude Range is located south and southeast of the glacier region of Lambert Glacier and the Garden of Allah in the New Zealand Alps . The mountain range is bounded to the west by the Frances River and the Cloudy Peak Range , to the north by Francis Glacier and Lyell Glacier and on its eastern side by the McCoy Stream with the Armory Range behind . At its southern end, the Francis River and McCoy Stream meet and merge to form the Clyde River .
The approximately 12 km long mountain range, which runs in an arc from south to northeast and east, finds its highest point at 2367 m high Mount Nicholson . Eleven other peaks of the mountain range are over 2000 m .
Administratively, the Froude Range belongs to the Ashburton District .
