When fruit vegetables is called vegetable plants whose above-ground growing fruits are edible. These fruits arise from fertilized flowers . If you cut the fruits of fruit vegetables such as peppers or tomatoes , you will find the seeds of the fruits. An exact definition of fruit vegetables is difficult, however, and there are different opinions regarding the distinction between fruit and vegetables.

In botany , many fruit vegetables belong to the plant families of the nightshade family (Solanaceae) and the cucurbit family (Cucurbitaceae). In general, the fruits of vegetable plants and these themselves are meant. According to the various definitions of vegetables, it is used to describe:

  • Fruits of annual and biennial plants
  • Fruits of herbaceous plants
  • Fruits from annual and biennial plants that are grown as field crops and, depending on the classification, are used as legumes for nutrients or as oil fruits for fat production.
  • Fruits of plants that came to Europe from America and East Asia only since the end of the 16th century, sometimes called New World fruits .
  • Fruit spices are sometimes considered to be fruit vegetables, even if they come from perennial plants.
