Fruit trade in the functional sense refers to the economic activity of procurement and / or sales of the fresh fruit and vegetables group of goods , whereby these goods are left in their natural state or are only slightly processed (sorting, packing, etc.).

Explanation

The fresh fruit and vegetables product group also includes potatoes , mushrooms , fresh herbs , aromatic plants and nuts . In contrast, canned fruit and vegetables, frozen fruit and vegetables and dried fruit are not part of the fruit trade.

Fruit trade in the institutional sense comprises those economic units whose economic activity is exclusively or predominantly attributable to the fruit trade in the functional sense. This includes z. B. Wholesale market halls or feeders from fruit and vegetable wholesalers , weekly markets or stall operators at weekly markets, fruit and vegetable shops and farmers' markets for retail .

Self-marketing fruit producer companies and groups, companies that also, but not exclusively, trade in the product group fresh fruit and vegetables (food trade), as well as companies with fresh fruit and vegetable- related services (ripeners, forwarding agents , special packaging companies , etc.) are also used in practice counted to the fruit trade.
