Fruit teat (container)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A fruit teat or fruit teat is a "suction container" for babies and toddlers , which allows sucking on pieces of inserted fruit and at the same time prevents the risk of swallowing (partial) pieces of the fruit.

Fruit teats consist of a small handle with a pacifier-like "teat attachment" - a removable ring-shaped attachment with a net-like suction cup. The handle has a non-slip coating and, like the attachment, is made of BPA- free and pollutant-tested polypropylene , the net of the suction cup is made of nylon . Alternatively, there are also handle designs in the form of an oval or round, sometimes open "handle ring". The suction attachment is attached to the lower part of the handle with a special twist lock that cannot be opened by children. Fruit teats are offered in different colors or sometimes in two-tone color combinations of the polypropylene parts, the nylon net is usually white.

The attachment is removed for filling and chopped pieces of fresh or frozen fruit such as apples, pears, etc. are placed in the net; suitable vegetables can also be used. Children can suck on whole pieces without the risk of suffocation. According to various manufacturers' instructions, fruit teats are suitable as an aid for first attempts at eating from six or ten months of age.
