Frutigtal

The Frutigtal is the name for the Kandertal below Frutigen and the confluence of the Engstlige in the Kander. It is a wide trough valley that curves around the Niesen from Frutigen (860 m) down to Lake Thun (560 m).

On the east side, the Kiental valley near the village of Kien and the Suldtal valley near Frutigen flow into the Frutig valley, while the steep west side is characterized by deep stream channels.

The Frutig Valley has only two larger towns, Frutigen and Reichenbach in the Kandertal. As a type of settlement dominate the valley scattered rural single estate, posing as Bäuert organize, the typical house is the Frutigland house , a log cabin, its front side is divided into residential and economic part.

The Frutig Valley is accessible to traffic through the Lötschberg line .
