Football Association of the Mark Brandenburg

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Football Association of Mark-Brandenburg was a local football association in the former capital of Berlin . It was founded by resolution of the DFB Bundestag on June 6 and 7, 1908 as an umbrella organization between the Association of Berlin Ball Game Clubs (VBB) and the Märkischer Fußball-Bund (MFB). The dissolution took place in the following year.

history

In 1906 a club of the MFB was qualified for the final round of the German championship for the first time. In 1907 and 1908 there was a playoff between the master of the MFB and the master of the VBB for participation in the German championship. By decision of the DFB there was from the 1908/09 season with the football association of the Mark-Brandenburg an umbrella organization. Both of the original associations remained and also retained their own administration.

In 1909, the VBB refused to let its master play for the decider of the football association of the Mark-Brandenburg. The reason was the financial share that the MFB was entitled to from this game, they did not want to strengthen the rival association. Then the umbrella organization was dissolved again. Thus, from 1909 on, the football champions of both associations were allowed to participate in the German championship.

At the request of the VBB, the DFB decided in spring 1911 to only recognize one Berlin football association. On April 29, 1911, the VBB and the MFB merged together with the VBAV to form the Association of Brandenburg Ball Game Clubs (also VBB).
