Fuchsfelge is a brand of Otto Fuchs KG in Meinerzhagen for light alloy wheels forged from aluminum . The first Fuchsfelgen were made for the 1963 Porsche 911 . Later there were also wheels for other vehicles, such as from 1965 for the Mercedes W 108 / W 109 (the so-called baroque rims), then also for the NSU Ro 80 and other manufacturers such as Audi, BMW and Opel. Today Fuchs produces wheels for cars, motorcycles, trucks and airplanes under this brand. The wheel center is first in die forged, then the rim shape hot flowing down . Because of the high strength of the material, the wheels can be made very light, the manufacturer calls (for truck wheels) "a weight saving of almost 50 percent compared to standard steel wheels". Fuchs also forges aluminum wheel disks for railway vehicles.

Fuchsfelge at Porsche

Ferdinand Alexander Porsche designed the shape of the wheel discs for the Porsche 911 . First the Fuchsfelgen were offered in 1967 in the size 15 inches for the Porsche 911 S and from 1981 also for the Porsche models 924 and 944 . Originally, only the sportiest Porsche vehicles were fitted with these lightweight and resilient wheels as standard. It was also possible to order the Fuchs rims instead of the standard wheels for more simply equipped vehicles. In the beginning, the wheels were delivered with a wheel spider that was blank on the spoke and painted black in the "background". Later it was painted completely black. The Fuchsfelge was an important component and a typical recognition feature for the Porsche 911. The Fuchsfelge were offered in the range of Porsche vehicles until 1989 (from 1988 on the 911 Carrera in 16-inch version as a standard wheel). Today, these wheels are again available from Porsche Classic in 15 and 16 inch sizes. Fuchs also offers the Fuchs rim in 17, 18 and 19 inch sizes. In the meantime, due to the design protection which expired at the latest in 1992 , other manufacturers are also offering Porsche wheels that look the same. For the special model Porsche 911 50th Anniversary Edition , which was released in 2013 and was limited to 1,963 vehicles , the Fuchs rims were offered again in a modern interpretation in the size 20 inches (20 "Sport Classic wheel).
