Fuchsia fulgens is a woody plant. The opposite leaves are gray-green, hairy and very large with a length of 10 to 20 centimeters and a width of 5 to 12 centimeters.

The flowers appear at the end of the branches in multi-flowered racemose inflorescences. The tube of the flowers is 10 centimeters long and red. The sepals (sepals) have a green tip. The crown is short and scarlet.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 22.
