Fuerza de San Pedro is an old military fortress in the Philippines , near the pier area of Cebu City at the Plaza de Independencia National Park . It is very well preserved and is one of the oldest colonial buildings in the Philippines. With 22,025 square meters, it is one of the smaller former Spanish fortresses on the archipelago .

The fortress was built by Spanish soldiers in 1565. This was to protect against violent attacks by locals and Muslim pirates. The construction was carried out on the orders of the then conquistador Miguel López de Legazpi and the Spanish government on Cebu . It originally consisted of an earth wall, but was later built of stone. The walls are about 2.5 meters thick, 6 meters high and the towers at the entrance gate are about 9 meters high.

Today the fortress is a museum that contains numerous well-preserved artifacts from the Spanish colonial era, including Spanish-language documents, coins, paintings, sculptures, cannons, a chapel, a dungeon, living quarters, bedrooms, classrooms and a garden. The large statue of Legazpi and Antonio Pigafetta was erected outside the fortress.
