Geotagging

The Fujifilm X-Pro2 is a mirrorless digital system camera that was introduced in January 2016 and has been available since March 2016. It is part of the Fujifilm X series and the official successor to the Fujifilm X-Pro1 .

technical features

The mirrorless Fujifilm X-Pro2 is geared towards professional and ambitious amateur photographers. The camera housing has an X-bayonet for connecting Fujinon XF and XC lenses. The autofocus system works as a hybrid using contrast and phase detection, this enables focusing and triggering within 0.15 to 0.25 seconds from infinity to two meters. A focus magnifier, a digital cross- sectional image indicator and focus peaking are available to the user for manual focusing . With an SDXC-UHS-II memory card , the camera allows you to record 30 raw or approx. 140 JPEG images at up to eight images per second. The mechanical shutter allows exposure times of 30 to 1/8000 seconds, by means of an electronic shutter are shutter speeds up to 1 / 32,000 seconds is possible.

In addition to a fixed and rear LC display , the camera has a hybrid optical viewfinder. This is a combination of optical (OVF) and electronic viewfinder (EVF) and enables the photographer to display information in the optical viewfinder field or to switch to the electronic viewfinder with 2.36 million pixels and 100% viewfinder field using the selector lever.

The X-Pro2 has no subject , HDR or panorama functions . Like its predecessor, the X-Pro1 , it has various Fujifilm-typical film simulations. In addition, functions for automatic exposure, white balance, dynamic and film simulation series are offered to the user.

With the integrated Wi-Fi function, the X-Pro2 can be remotely controlled via a smartphone or tablet .

Fujifilm "X-Trans" CMOS sensor

The Fujifilm-X-Trans-Sensor-III is used for image acquisition . This measures 23.6 × 15.6 mm in APS-C format, at a resolution of 24.3 megapixels with a pixel pitch of 3.9 µm. In contrast to Bayer CMOS sensors , this one has a different structure, which enables a different sampling method and thus makes the use of an optical low-pass filter (OLPF) superfluous. The absence of a low-pass filter has a positive effect on the resolution.

According to test reports, the X-Trans-III 24-megapixel CMOS sensor has a maximum resolution of 2,104 line pairs per image height (cf. Nikon D750 approx. 1,860, Sony A7R II 2,448 line pairs).

reception

The camera was largely positively received by the specialist media. Among other things, the high image quality, the large dynamic range in RAW format, the contemporary autofocus system and the hybrid viewfinder were praised. On the other hand, the original lack of a 4K video recording function (this was later added via firmware update), the low capacity of the battery system, the design of the ISO dial, and the rigid LC display on the back were criticized .

Others

With Firmware 2.0, which was introduced on October 16, 2016 , the X-Pro2 received the same autofocus algorithm that Fujifilm introduced with the Fujifilm X-T2 . In addition to the precision of the phase comparison autofocus, this also increased the number of selectable autofocus points to 91 (matrix of 7 × 13) or 325 (13 × 25) pieces.
