Fujifilm X series
The X-Series is a series of digital camera bodies of a digital camera system from Fujifilm that discerning amateurs and professional photographers as a target group has. The name is derived from the model names of the camera housings, which all start with an X. The X series is characterized by the uniform use of sensors in APS-C format with Fujifilm's X-Trans color filter (exception: XA series with Bayer sensor). The operating concept is based on analog cameras, for example most lenses have their own aperture ring.
Interchangeable lens cameras
For the interchangeable lenses within the X series, Fujifilm introduced the X bayonet with matching lenses . For a number of years now, Carl Zeiss and, more recently, Viltrox have been producing matching lenses with autofocus ; Tokina has announced three autofocus lenses for fall 2020. An increasing number of manufacturers offer suitable lenses for the Fujifilm X bayonet with purely manual control (without electronic communication between the lens and the camera housing) (see Fujifilm X bayonet ). In addition to the lens connection, the sensor size is uniformly set at 23.6 × 15.6 mm, which corresponds to APS-C . The format factor (English. Crop factor) related to the "full format" ( small picture format ) is consequently approx. 1.53 In most cameras a Fujifilm X-Trans sensor is used. The X-A1, X-A2, X-A3, X-A5, X-A10, X-A20 and the X-T100 use a normal Bayer sensor . In the first few years the cameras had a sensor with 16 megapixel (Mpx) resolution, from 2016 a sensor with 24 megapixel (Mpx) will be used for the upscale camera models. In September 2018, the first model (Fujifilm X-T3) appeared with the fourth generation of the X-Trans sensor with 26.1 megapixels (Mpx).
