With the X-T1, Fujifilm introduced the sixth system camera in the X series in January 2014 . The concept of classic operation has been expanded with a dial for the exposure index to be used . For the first time in the series, the design was not based on a rangefinder camera , but on a mirror reflex .

The used electronic viewfinder offered to launch the highest magnification - even higher than in a full-frame SLR usual - and was also in terms of resolution, lag and frame rate at the highest level. For the first time, it also had a rotation of the recording data in portrait format in the viewfinder and a special mode for manual focusing, which displayed the entire image and an enlarged section at the same time.

The X-T1 was both the first splash-proof camera in the X series and the first with an optional battery grip including a portrait shutter release. It was also the first camera overall to fully support UHS-II SD cards .

The camera was offered individually with a recommended retail price of 1199 euros or as a kit with the Fujinon 18-55 mm F 2.8-4 R OIS lens for 1599 euros.

Problems

Shortly after the start of sales there were the first reports of incidence of light if the flap on the side over the connections was open during a long exposure . Fujifilm responded by finding that some early production models had this bug and offered a free repair of the affected cameras.

reception

The X-T1 won the EISA "Best Product 2014" award in the "Advanced Compact System Camera" category.

Graphite Silver special model

At Photokina 2014, Fujifilm announced a special model in gray that is said to be 200 euros more expensive than the normal, black version. In addition, it should offer shorter exposure times of up to 1/32000 s using an electronic shutter and a new Classic Chrome film mode . These two innovations have also been announced for the normal model in December 2014 via a firmware update.
