Fulgenci Mestres Bertran (born August 31, 1965 in Vilafranca del Penedès , Spain ) is a Spanish actor , artist and circus clown .

Life

Fulgenci Mestres was born the youngest of eight children to a local politician and a kiosk owner. He studied theater studies at the Institut del Teatre in Barcelona and completed training in singing and violin at the Conservatori Superior de Música del Liceu .

From 1986 he was a member of the Catalan music theater group Dagoll Dagom for several years and had his first leading role in the musical Mar i cel (Sea and Sky) in 1988 , which was followed by others. After a two-year engagement in the Comediantes group , Mestres appeared in productions at the Teatre Nacional de Catalunya from 1996. 2000/2001 followed a tour through Europe and South America with La Fura dels Baus and the piece OBS / Obsessions .

From 1996 Mestres dedicated himself above all to the theater and clown trio Monti & Cia , which he formed as Gensi together with Joan Montanyès and Oriol Boixader . A DVD of performances by the trio and the performance in Klowns prompted Bernhard Paul to hire the troupe for guest appearances in Circus Roncalli in 2005 . Mestres then remained an integral part of the Roncalli ensemble and, as a white clown, is now the counterpart to stupid August , the famous David Larible . He does not see his task in "making people laugh", but in bringing poetry into the arena.
